When the light came in the window
soft yelloworange
it took its time
gradually melting the darkness
illimuninating your pillow, your tousled bed,
your bare shoulders
As a robin's egg sky replaced dawn
On the street below were:
inpatient commuters,
kids on bikes
several loud dogs
None of which woke you
If I had been able to keep my hands off your
waves of hair
you might still be
dreaming
