  1. A digestive system that is able to tolerate large amounts and ranges of foods and other substances without distress.

    Example: After a night out at the bars, Juan consumed a cheese steak, a slice of pizza, a milkshake, and several chocolate brownies; it was only his strong stomach that allowed him to keep it all down.

  2. One's capacity to tolerate circumstances that tend to produce nausea, such as riding amusement park rides, witnessing gore, or smelling foul odors such as decaying food or vomit.

    Example: The emergency medical technician was glad for her strong stomach when she came upon the car accident victim's body.

  3. One's capacity to tolerate violent, unstable, or unsettling circumstances with ease.
