You can whack off a piece of sugarcane with a machete and chew on it -- it's very tough and stringy, making celery feel like Miracle Whip by comparison, but you get fresh sugar water in your mouth as a reward. Despite the symbolism, I've seen lots of macho guys practically fellate their sugarcane to get its squirtings. And why not? Four out of five dentists, orthodontists and oral surgeons with large mortgage payments enthusiastically endorse the idea of chewing a stick slightly less tough than oak.
The Sugarcanes (person) are also the cheering section for the University of Miami Hurricanes. |
