Confessions of Miss X

At the moment, I'm exploring the world and the rest of the Internet, and doing some self-searching. I might not be here as much as I used to, but I haven't forgotten about Everything. This is a special place and there are words I discovered here that will always be sacred to me. And people.

I've been watching Kung Fu. One of the Shaolin priests noted in today's episode that once a man has reached greatness, he does not seek it. I am neither a man nor great, but I do not feel the need to climb a ladder here. If I feel I have something to contribute to E2, I will. However, I will not node for the sake of renown or points. This system addicted me in the beginning, but once I became an editor I realized I had accomplished what I set out to do: define myself by my work, and garner respect on pure merit.

Work has been extremely busy for me lately. I am learning the ins and outs of electromagnetics. I'm still writing.

But who am I?

I was born in 1978, in Connecticut. I now reside and work in California as an electrical engineer. My interests include:

  • Science fiction. I'm a big fan of Harlan Ellison's and Neal Stephenson's work, and I'm not ashamed to admit my fondness for Star Trek.
  • Anime
  • Computer games (mainly FPS and RPG)
  • Art (drawing and painting)
  • Psychology / human behavior.
  • Writing (that's why I'm here!)
  • Transhumanism, but with FEELING!
  • Computing: Linux, some code, etc.
  • Electromagnetics

I am also easily amused. A drop of water might be tedium and commonplace to some, but to me it is a world of shine and particle, and that is enough.

I am an observer of humans. I have never felt like a participant in human existence, but rather, someone who watches from the sidelines attempting to find patterns in the movements of lives as I find them in swirls of dust and the coldness of ancient stars.

I am not typical. I speak strangely and my mannerisms are patently odd. This is okay with me most of the time.

I am hyperactive yet maddeningly sane. I am a reality addict. I am, apparently, some shade of autistic.

I am working on something. I hope to show someone, someday. Part of it is a robot, and part of it is a tapestry of words.

I am giddily in love with MrFish, with whom I live blissfully in sin.
