There are people on e2 who have a moral objection to downvoting. I am not one of those people. I cheerfully downvote writeups that are riddled with spelling mistakes; that are simply boring lists of titles, statistics, mathematical formulae, or lines of computer code; that hardlink long, meaningless phrases which are an inevitable disappointment when I mouse over them; that hardlink strings of simple words that nobody would ever click on for any reason; that are stupid in-jokes that nobody cares about; that are flat-out wrong about details that would be easy to look up for anyone who could actually be bothered; that try to behave like factuals even though they contain phrases like "I once read somewhere that"; that are misogynist; that read like cheap advertising copy; that use *Notepad* _style_ /emphasis/ instead of actual HTML; that contain the sorts of unfunny chestnuts that circulate in spam e-mails forwarded by well-meaning acquaintances; that proclaim how witty you are by describing some zinger that you used on a shop clerk or an ex before flouncing off; that read like awful high-school book reports; that are awful high-school book reports; that that try to justify their lameness by declaring that they are nodeshell rescues; that bore or annoy me for any reason whatsoever. I used to refrain from downvoting daylogs or anything written by level-one users. But some of them irritate me so much that I sometimes feel compelled to downvote them too. My interests are rather varied, and any classification system is destined to be silly and arbitrary. Nevertheless, the following list might make it a bit easier to find my writeups on a topic that interests you, if indeed anything that interests me also interests you. The New Testament and Historical Jesus stuff Recipes that I have tried or want to try:
I can't believe that no writeups (or only the stubbiest of stubby writeups) exist for the following:
If you do one of these, let me know. If you do it well, I'll ching it with my awesome powers of ching! 2006-09-03 19:51:33 (Halspal) There's a rumour swirling around in the backchannels that I have some partiality to noders with "ha" nicks; eg. haze, hapax, Hatshepsut, that kind of thing. This is purely coincidence. 2008-04-13 06:37 (hapax) Donginger: Tell me about that word I'm trying to remember. 2007.10.08 at 12:58 (r) Albert Herring says re 666 does not equal 18: ... except in base 658 |
