Oct 2004, I've co founded Change Management, Event Management, and Problem Management groups in Aramco.

The 3 groups best practices are scattered all over Google. The tricky part is making it compatible with Aramco.

In the beginning, we've had a lot of resistance from other groups down the business lines, but they are slowly realizing its benefits.

Change act like schedulers and approvers, event as publishers, and problem as changers to the infrastructure if there is a repetitive problem.

Managing a heterogeneous infrastructure with the international magnitude of Aramco is a nightmare, but I'm keeping my cool.

My new busy ness certainly beats the headache of 14 months I've spent in the frontline, listening to customers whines and anger for 8 hours a day!

July 2003, I've been working under IT Help Desk at Aramco. Its starting to get boring by now, hopefully, I'll find a better job oppurtunity some day.

Supposedly, I'm working with one of the most advanced computer networks in the world. Geek heaven!

A gigabit switch here, a gigabit switch there.

Most of the latest tech hardware is found here, Aramco just has a lot of money to waste.

User base is estimated around 250,000 and computer base floats around 50,000.

We also have a Linux cluster to hunt for Oil. Geo teams blow explosives, returned echo is fed into the cluster. The cluster ranks 109 in www.top500.org as of March 2004, it can peak at 10 tera flops. Insignificant compared with Earth Simulator. According to the guys who built the Oil hunting beast, its still not enough computing power.
