Six months ago, I said I would update on this date. Have major structural issues in the United States economy and society been solved yet? The answer is: no.
There is a lot of chaos. Like I said the first time around, this all happens very fast and it is hard to keep track of what is happening. Elon Musk? Bombing Iran? Jeffrey Epstein? Yep, that shit sure flies fast, leads to stimulation, and the next week its another story. Pretty shaky.
But the major issues haven't changed. I was actually surprised that there was an ambitious plan, via tariffs, to change the status quo. I am also surprised that it hasn't led to disaster, but just more grinding misery where healthcare, education, and housing make planning for the future difficult. There was no price drop or employment boom from day one. There may or may not be stagflation. There hasn't been a renaissance and we are still in the same frustrating bullshit, no matter what splash is made this week. So my prediction was correct, although I don't know what happens next.
