Sri Gaura Nityanander Daya
(The Mercy of Gaura-Nityananda)
by Srila Locana dasa Thakura
(1)
parama karuna, pahui dui jana,
nitai gauracandra
saba avatara sara-siromani
kevala-ananda-kanda
These two lords, Nitai and Gaurachandra,
are most compassionate. Of all the incarnations [avatara] of
Godhead, they are the most perfect, for they are the unique source of joy.
(2)
bhaja bhaja bhai caitanya nitai
sudrdha visvasa kari
visaya chariya se rase majiya
mukha bala hari hari
Pray, O brothers! Pray with great faith to Chaitanya
and Nitai. Give up the objects of sense gratification,
absorb yourself in the flavours of their divine moode, and use your
tongue to sing the names of Hari!
(3)
dekho ore bhai tribhuvane nai
emono dayala data
pasu pakhi jhure pasana vidare
suni janra guna-gatha
Just look, O my brothers! There are no more compassionate benefactors
that Gaura-Nitai anywhere in the
three worlds. Even the birds and beasts' hears melt when they hear their
virtues.
(4)
samsare majiya rahili pariya
se pade nahila asa
apana karama bhuñjaye samana
kahaye locana-dasa
I have fallen into the worldly life, completely absorbed in mundane
pursuits, and have never aspired to attaining their service.
The god of judgment is making me suffer the consequences of
my acts, so says Locana dasa.
