Georgetown Road and Georgia Avenue.
Even though the highway already carries a
speed limit of 55 MPH, there are several 55 MPH advisory signs on this section to reinforce that
authorities really do want motorists to do the
speed limit. Despite this warning, disgruntled DC commuters regularly travel at speeds in excess of 75 MPH around the heavily-banked turns, creating a smooth and flowing left-to-right right-to-left flow of tail lights.
Going west on this stretch of road, a traveler is able to see the
Mormon Temple suddenly tower over the horizon out of seemingly nowhere after the first big hill, then disappear into the trees at the first heavy left curve.
