A
Provincial Park in
Northern Ontario located on
Highway 60 near
Huntsville. Algonquin's
area spans across 7,725
square kilometres ( 4797.225 mi) and is home to hundreds of species of
wildlife and
plants. It is not rare to see
Moose up close here.
Algonquin Park inspired
Tom Thomson and
The Group of Seven, as well as 40 published
authors and uncounted
artists to
reflect with their talents.
Algonquin's history dates back to the 1800s when the area was being used for
logging and
leisure. The park was officially
reserved as a
wildlife sanctuary in 1893.
Algonquin allows people to explore
nature in several different ways depending on their
budget,
flexibility and
outdoorsmanship such as:
I like to take a
topographical map and a
compass to explore the
abandoned railroad and
airfields that are within the park.
