Since 1958, the British Science Fiction Association (BSFA) has been the "official" face of British science fiction fandom. It publishes three magazines:
- Vector: The Critical Journal of the BSFA. Vector prints in-depth articles, commentary, interviews, as well as shorter book reviews.
- Matrix: The new magazine of the British Science Fiction Association. Matrix runs news features, con reports, shorter columns, and some sf-specific puzzles and competitions on the back page.
- Focus is an irregular publication targeted at aspiring writers, featuring columns, articles on the craft of writing, and occasional pieces of fiction.
The BSFA sponsors the BSFA Awards, which are given each year in roughly the same categories as the Hugo awards. The BSFA Awards are regarded as the most prestigious of the British SF awards. They are voted on by the membership of the BSFA, and annouced each year at Eastercon.
