A mnemonic used in astronomy to indicate the classes (or colors) of stars, which was OBAFGKM or (O, B, A, F, G, K and M), on a stellar evolution diagram ranging from hot, early type stars (O) to cool, late type stars (M) class.( Three additional classes (RNS) (or OBAFGKMRNS) are no longer used. The mnemonic for that one was Oh Be A Fine Girl Kiss Me Right Now Sweetheart.)

About 200 years ago it was discovered that sunlight is not merely one color, but in fact is made up of bands of hundreds of colors. A much more complete explanation is located under Stellar Spectra, and a nice visual display is shown at Hertzsprung-Russell diagram.

Alex Filippenko, an astronomer at UC Berkeley, created a series of astronomy lectures on videotape for The Teaching Company. In the tape he discussed this mnemonic, used for remembering the classes of stars on the main sequence.

The original version is of course:

Oh
Be
A
Fine
Girl,
Kiss
Me

However, he recognized that not all students are interested in having a girl kiss them. But that was easily fixed:

Oh
Be
A
Fine
Guy,
Kiss
Me

But his favorite was one that his students made up, which he was more than happy to relate on the tape:

Oh
Boy!
Alex
Filippenko
Gives
Killer
Midterms

I'm sure his classes would be a lot of fun.

A new class of stars, called the "L" class, has been added to the mnemonic

So Alex from UC Berkeley changed the mnemonics accordingly to:

Oh Be A Fine Girl (Guy) Kiss Me Lovingly

Oh Boy! Alex Filippenko Gives Killer Midterms Laughing

And my personal favorite:

Obviously Bill Always Felt Good Kissing Monica Lewinsky
