Stella was the development codename for the original Atari 2600 VCS. Some of the other codenames were Pam, for the Atari 5200, Candy, for the Atari 400, and Colleen, for the Atari 800. Most products were named for women who worked for Atari, but Stella was the name of Atari engineer Joe Decuir's bicycle.
