Did you ever come home just too tired to cook a meal? You look in the larder and pull out a can of soup, a tin of spaghetti rings or maybe a packet of ramen. You're hungry so you want it now but it's probably going to be bland. Conflicted, you poke around in the cupboards while the something is heating on the stove. You find that bottle of spicy thing, remember you've a few scallions in the fridge. A little oil in a skillet and shake up those onions, and add them with a dash of sauce when the soup/spaghetti/ramen is done. Congratulations! You have just zhuzhed up your desperate snack.

The word is Polari in origin, and has to do with making something a bit more glam, but without taking too much trouble. Someone might zhuzh up their hair or put on some lippy just before walking into the pub, just in case there's a bona palone or dishy home inside.
