1984 gangster drama directed by Sergio Leone and starring Robert de Niro in the lead role as "Noodles". The story chronicles a group of Jewish gangsters in New York, from childhood in the early 1900s, through their glory years during the prohibition, and then their reunion 35 years later.
Once Upon a Time in America is based upon the novel The Hoods by author Harry Grey, and has James Woods, Joe Pesci and Treat Williams cast in prominent supporting roles. The running time is approximately 4 hours, prompting the VHS release to be split into two parts.
Like so many other Sergio Leone movies, this one features great music by Ennio Morricone, although not as good as his work in Duck, you sucker.
